Description
Chromium Polynicotinate is an essential micromineral that is thought to be the active component of glucose tolerance factor (GTF), which is a complex of molecules found in the body. GTF enhances the blood sugar-lowering effects of insulin, which facilitates the uptake of glucose into cells. Chromium is used for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome because of its effect on lipids and body composition. Chromium Polynicotinate is often refered to as niacin-bound chromium because it includes chromium bound to molecules of niacin. The nicotinate salt increases absorption, retention and accumulation of chromium compared to other inorganic salts. Pharmacokinetics: Approximately 0.5-2% of chromium is absorbed. Absorption seems to occur primarily in the jejunum. Absorption of chromium may be affected by interactions with other metals, including zinc, iron, vanadium, oxalate, and phytate. After absorption, trivalent chromium is bound to transferrin. The distribution may occur across fast, medium, and slow compartments, with serum chromium not in equilibrium with tissue-organ stores.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding women should not take

Chromium Polynicotinate is an essential Micromineral.
PRODUCT INFORMATION FOR CHROMIUM POLYNICOTINATE
PROPRIETARY NAME (and dosage form):
Chromium Polynicotinate (tablets) COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains the following as active ingredients: Chromium polynicotinate 200mg
Inactive ingredients: micro crystalline cellulose, vinylpyrrolidone-vinyl acetate, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Chromium is thought to be the active component of glucose tolerence factor (GTF) which is a complex of molecules found in the body. GTF enhances the blood sugar-lowering effects of insulin, which facilitates the uptake of glucose into cells. It is suspected to potentiate insulin by increasing receptor numbers and affinity, and increasing insulin binding to cells. This suggests that chromium potentiates the effect of insulin in patients with diabetes which translates into decreased insulin resistance, improved glucose tolerance, and lower blood glucose levels. Chromium is used for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome because of it effect on lipids and body composition. Chromium polynicotinate is often refered to as niacin bound chromium because it includes chromium bound to molecules of niacin.
