Cover with fresh water and soak for approximately 610 hours. Drain the soaking water thoroughly and rinse the seeds again. Keep the jar tilted to allow excess water to drain while maintaining good airflow. Rinse and drain approximately twice daily, keeping the jar in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
Harvest the sprouts when sufficiently developed, generally after approximately 46 days. Give them a final rinse and refrigerate promptly. As Microgreens: Fill a shallow growing tray with a moist, well-draining growing medium, such as coco coir or suitable seed-starting soil. Sow the seeds evenly across the surface and press them gently into the growing medium.
Keep moist without allowing the tray to become waterlogged. Cover during the initial germination stage, then uncover once the shoots emerge and move the tray into good light. Harvest after approximately 1014 days, when the young greens are well developed. Cut just above the growing medium using clean scissors.
Serving Tip: Add freshly harvested microgreens towards the end of food preparation to retain their crisp texture and distinctive peppery flavour. Care & Safety Wash your hands thoroughly before handling seeds, sprouts or growing equipment. Use clean, regularly sanitised sprouting jars, trays and utensils.
Rinse and drain sprouts thoroughly during growing. Avoid stagnant water and ensure adequate airflow. Discard sprouts or microgreens showing unusual odours, sliminess or signs of mould. Refrigerate harvested sprouts and microgreens promptly and use while fresh. Raw sprouts can carry harmful bacteria.
