Premium Schwarz German Black Lager

Dark in colour, surprisingly light on its feet. Denninghoff's Premium Schwarz is a traditional German black lager that delivers rich roasted malt character, subtle chocolate notes and a beautifully clean, refreshing finish. Schwarzbier, which literally translates to "black beer", is one of Germany's most underrated beer styles.

Despite its almost opaque appearance, it's considerably lighter and more approachable than many stouts and porters, offering the depth of dark roasted malts without the heavy body or intense bitterness often associated with darker beers. Denninghoff's Premium Schwarz celebrates this classic German brewing tradition, combining carefully selected malts with traditional lager fermentation to create a beer that's smooth, balanced and wonderfully drinkable.

Brewed in accordance with the German Reinheitsgebot, or Purity Law, this dark lager showcases how a handful of quality ingredients can produce a beer with remarkable depth and character. For those who typically shy away from dark beers, this might just be the one that changes your mind. Tasting Notes Appearance: Deep mahogany to almost black, with subtle ruby highlights and a creamy tan-coloured head.

Aroma: Inviting notes of toasted bread, roasted malt, dark chocolate and a hint of freshly brewed coffee, complemented by gentle caramel sweetness. Palate: Smooth and medium-light bodied, with flavours of toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and subtle caramel. A restrained roasted bitterness balances the malt sweetness, while clean lager fermentation keeps everything crisp and refreshing.

Finish: Clean, smooth and pleasantly dry, with lingering notes of toasted bread, delicate chocolate and a gentle roasted malt bitterness.
