Active Ingredient:
The active ingredient in Smecta isDiosmectite, a natural clay.
Diosmectite covers the intestinal mucosa, binds to viruses and bacteria, eliminates pathogens through stools, and protects the mucosa, allowing it to recover.
It provides gentle relief by reducing symptoms of acute diarrhea.
Dosage and Administration:
Foracute diarrhea:
Children (>2 years): Take4 sachets per dayfor the first 3 days, then2 sachets per daythereafter.
Adults: Consume3 sachets per dayfor 7 days.
Babies and children should take Smecta in addition to an oral rehydration solution.
Forchronic diarrheain adults: The average dosage is3 sachets per day.
Flavors:
Smecta is available in two flavors:
Smecta Orange: Mix the contents of the sachet in half a glass of water before administration.
Smecta Strawberry: Mix the contents in half a glass of water before use.
Precautionary Measures:
Rehydrate with plenty of salty or sweet fluids to compensate for fluid loss due to diarrhea.
Maintain food intake (preferably grilled meat and rice) during diarrhea, avoiding certain supplements and raw vegetables.
For infants and children, administer oral rehydration solution (ORS) alongside Smecta to prevent dehydration.
Seek medical advice if diarrhea persists beyond 7 days, is associated with high fever, sudden weight loss, vomiting, or if you have a history of severe constipation.
