Political Leaders of Contemporary Africa South of the Sahara: A Biographical Dictionary

This biographical dictionary of major political leaders since 1945 in Africa south of the Sahara assesses how these leaders have helped shape events and had a significant impact on the governing of their countries or on the politics of the region as a whole. Glickman heads an international team of experts and scholars who profile 53 leaders of different types from a representative group of countries.

The profiles are arranged alphabetically with short bibliographies of works by and about the leaders. The dictionary includes an introduction that provides an analytical orientation for understanding political leadership in Africa. An appendix lists the leaders by country and a chronology covers important political events in the region since 1892.
