It is essential that for each skin type, the relevant toner is used in conjuction with cleansing and moisturising. The Gaia range of toners will not leave the skin feeling dry and taught.

The main purpose of the toners are to allow the top dead layer of skin to be sloughed off in a natural and unharmful way. The toners act as an exfoliant gently removing the top layer of skin and enhancing new cellular regeneration. Our unique blend of fruit acids (AHAs), essential oils and herbal extracts combine to assist in achieving the following benefits: clearer, smoother skin anti aging by stimulating collagen and elastin naturally balancing oil production allowing moisturisers to adhere better continuing the cleansing process restoring the pH level of your skin after cleansing AND providing antioxidants.

Gaia's Green Range suitable for Normal & Combination skins Improves Moisturisation: Removal of the dead skin build up, or cellular debris improves skin texture. The smoother skin in turn can boost the effectiveness, absorption, and adhesion of your moisturiser. To support the moisturising effect of the AHAs, is a combination of natural emollients and plant extracts.

Balances Oil Production: Removal of dead skin cells allows normal oil production to resume. Essential oils are also used to assist in balancing sebum production. Soothes: A mix of natural anti-inflammatories ensure a soothing, calming toner. Maintains the skins pH: The skin has a level of acidity of about pH 4 to 5.5.

In addition to helping protect skin from the elements (such as wind or pollutants), this acid mantle ,as it is known, inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi. Loss of acidity causes the skin becomes more prone to damage and infection. Over washing or using cleansers that are too strong can result in the loss of the acid mantle.

All our AHA Toners contains: purified rainwater; distillate of witch hazel astringent; seaweed extract [iodine], partly for cell-optimising trace minerals, polysaccharides and sulphonated galactins; comfrey extract, especially for chlorophyll and healthy cell-proliferating allantoin; green tea extracts, partly for anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant polyphenols, chlorophyll, astringents and organic Germanium; stinging nettle extract, partly for gallic acid, organic silica and astringents; centella extract, partly for chlorophyll and immuno-stimulating and skin-healing accelerative asiaticosides; kombucha (green tea symbiont) extract (selenium), partly for hyaluronic acid and beta-glucan polysaccharides, rare anti-aging bio-actives normally only obtainable from placenta & healing mushrooms (selenium); expressed oil of lemon as natural solvent; vitamin C as cell-protectant, thymol as antiseptic and three genuine alpha-hydroxy fruit acids as astringents, preservatives and more specifically for their collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid stimulating cytokine reactivation activities.

Each toner type has its own unique extras.
