Description
A large, dual diaphragm version of our legendary V67G, the V67i has a unique, patented design with two selectable diaphragms. It's like having two mics in one - with the front side having a warm, opulent sound, and the back side simulating some of the brighter, more airy sounding characteristics of early tube mics. MXL V67GS combines Class-A FET circuitry and a transformer /coupled output for an open and pure sound. The V67GS offers a smooth rising presence peak which is preferred for vocals when there is a heavy low end in the mix. The high-pass roll-off switch and additional -6 dB pad provide the ultimate improvement to our classic version. The V67i will give you killer results.MXL condenser microphones use what is known as a cardioid pickup pattern, which is more sensitive to sound waves arriving at the front of the microphone as opposed to those arriving from the sides or rear. The V67i is unique in that it has two capsules and, hence, two front sides - Bright and Warm. Cardioid microphones make an excellent choice for many recording applications. While there are no hard and fast rules for microphone positioning, the setups in the included applications guide are a good place to begin as they work well in many recording situations - though MXL encourages you to experiment.
