The novel tells the story of the Rubin family, who are in the midst of a crisis. The family is made up of Claudia, her son Leo, and his wife, as well as Claudia's mother and Leo's father. The family is in the midst of a wedding celebration when Leo begins to rebel, and the rest of the novel follows the family as they try to figure out what is wrong with him and how to fix it. The novel is funny and touching, and it is a great portrayal of a family in crisis.
