Description
The St. Philomena Medal is a silver oxidized medal with an image of St. Philomena on one side and the words "St. Philomena Virgin and Martyr Pray for Us" on the other side. It is made in Italy and is approximately 2.5cm tall. Philomena is a young consecrated virgin whose remains were discovered on May 2425, 1802, in the Catacomb of Priscilla. Three tiles enclosing her tomb bore an inscription, Pax Tecum Filumena, that was taken to indicate that her name was Filumena, the English form of which is Philomena. Born on January 10, 291 AD, in Corfu, Greece, Philomena died on August 10, 304 AD, in Rome, Italy. She is also known as the Wonder-Worker and is patron saint of priests.
