Description
This is a description of Barefoot Coffee's "yirgacheffe Idido" light roasted whole bean coffee, which comes in a 5 pound bag. The coffee has fruity and floral aromas, with notes of mandarin orange, blueberry, peach, and black tea. It has a balanced acidity and a smooth body, with a dry finish. The beans are sourced from family-owned farms in the Gedeo Zone of Ethiopia and are processed at the Idido coffee mill. The beans are fermented, washed, and then dried for 10-12 days before being transported to Addis Ababa for milling and export.

Aromas of fruits and florals are followed by bursts of mandarin orange and blueberry with a hint of peach and black tea. Upfront acidity is balanced by a smooth body and ends with a dry finish. Ethiopia Yirgacheffe 1 Idido Lot 22 is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the Idido coffee mill in the Gedeo Zone of Ethiopia. Small coffee farmers deliver ripe cherries to the Idido mill where the cherries are sorted and pulped. After pulping, the beans are fermented for 36 to 48 hours and then washed. The wet beans in parchment are placed on raised drying beds in thin layers and turned every 2 to 3 hours during the first few days of the drying process. Depending on weather, the beans are dried for 10 to 12 days until the moisture in the coffee beans is reduced to 11.5 percent. Then the beans are transported to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to be milled and bagged prior to export.
