iFi was born in 2012 with one goal in mind: to produce
'ultra-fidelity' audio products that push the sonic envelope whilst still
priced within the mainstream. iFi audio is under our parent company, AMR,
Abbingdon Music Research, which designs and produces top-end luxurious audio
products. AMR saw in 2010 that customer demand for wireless and portable
headphones was expanding as the whole audio dynamic was changing. Thus, iFi

Phono Preamplifier pairs with any cartridge for a sublime sound, super-quiet
noise floor, ultra-wide gain, and an incredible 106 dB dynamic range. It
features a ground-up design that further enhances the sonic performance and
audiophile-quality versatility. An ultra-quiet noise floor (85dB SNR) allows
you to intimately experience the prized nuances, details, and backgrounds in
your records' grooves at any volume you desire without having to worry about
hearing phono preamplifier noise. Want more quiet? iFi's ultra-silent iPower
outboard power supply (15v) is included in the box. You'll hear your LPs
produce a more natural, lifelike sound enriched with lower distortion,
increased resolution, and remarkable transient response. The iPhono2 can do
with practically any MM or MC cartridge extant. An ultra-wide gain of 36dB to
72db means the iPhono2 can mate with any cartridge and play with sublime
results all without the need of a step-up transformer. And because iPhono2
uses a DirectDrive Servo-less DC Infinity circuit, no noise or distortion are
added to the signal path. Six stereo EQ curves ensure accurate playback, which
means you will never play another LP with the wrong EQ and tolerate inferior
sonics. With Decca, RIAA, Columbia, eRIAA, IEC, and eRIAA/IEC curves at the
ready, accurate playback is ensured for all types of music and all eras of

will use it for many years to come. Tubes The iPhono2 uses a refined Class A
TubeState circuit utilizing the Burr-Brown Soundplus J-FET amp as part of the
J-FET/BJT output buffer. The circuit reduces the load seen by the main
amplification circuit, which improves linearity while allowing it to drive,
even punishing 600 Ohm studio inputs. MM and MC Cartridges Most phono pre-
amplifiers have gain adjustment levels. Different cartridges require different
gain levels. MM cartridges require lower gain and MC cartridge require higher
gain. Normally gain is expressed in decibel (dB); 36dB means 63 times gain.
The iPhono2 allows gain levels from 36dB (63 times) to 72dB (4,000 times) to
be set allowing for Cartridges with rated outputs from = 10mV.
