The Sound and the Fury is a novel that tells the story of the dissolution of the once aristocratic Compson family in the American South. The three main characters are Quentin, Caddy, and Benjy. Quentin is the oldest and he is the one who is the most affected by the family's decline. Caddy is Quentin's sister and she is the one who tries to help him the most. Benjy is Quentin's brother and he is the one who is the most affected by the family's decline.
