Description
The rheostat is made from resistance wire wound on an insulating, heat-resistant tube. It is supported by cast-metal end cheeks and has a sliding contact. It allows you to adjust the electrical resistance of a circuit without intefering with the flow of current. It's used to demonstrate how dimmer switches and motor speeds work.
