Description
These spectacles are made of polycarbonate material and are designed to filter sodium flare and provide UV protection. They are similar to Phillips 202 glass and are comfortable for use in high ambient light conditions. However, they have a low luminous transmission and are not suitable for glass working that requires infrared protection. They are better suited for soft glass and clear borosilicate work.
This Sodium Flare polycarbonate material is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing excellent ultraviolet protection. The material has very similar characteristics to our standard Phillips 202 (Didymium) glass material. It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for glass working where Infrared protection is needed. This filter is more for soft glass usage and clear borosilicate work.
