This book is a practical guide that is aimed at engineers, scientists and students working on environmental risk assessment. It provides an introduction to the main types of model and the main statistical methods useful for analysis of these risks. The use of each method is illustrated by a case study dealing with a specific concrete problem (water pollution from nitrates, invasion by harmful species, gene flow between GM and non-GM crops). The software used to develop the models and apply the statistical methods is presented and explained in detail. All of them were developed using free software easily accessible (R).
