Description
This is a description of a La Fleur Absinthe Spoon Gold-plated. This spoon is made to look like an antique from the turn of the last century and is used in the preparation of a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. A traditional absinthe is prepared by pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing the absinthe spoon on top of the glass and a sugar cube atop the spoon. Ice water is slowly dripped from a fountain, carafe or balancier onto the piece of sugar. The cold sugar water then drips from the spoon into the glass of absinthe releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in color, as the water mixes with the anise.

One of our most ornate and popular spoons, this faithful reproduction is considered to be one of the most collectable of all antique absinthe spoons. This flower absinthe spoon features a large flat surface allowing it to accommodate large absinthe glasses. The grille features 10 slots in a circular design where to sugar is placed and the cold water is dripped or poured. It is an exact reproduction of a turn of the last century antique absinthe spoon.
