M&M's are a popular candy produced by Mars, Incorporated. They are colorful button-shaped chocolates with a candy shell and a variety of fillings. The original variety had a milk chocolate filling, but other variations such as peanut, peanut butter, almond, pretzel, crispy, and dark chocolate have been introduced. M&M's were inspired by a method used to keep chocolate from melting for soldiers. They are sold in over 100 countries and have a long-lasting slogan of "Melts in your mouth, not in your hand." A traditional milk chocolate M&M weighs about 0.91 grams and has 4.7 kilocalories of food energy.
