Description
The Converse company began in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts as a rubber shoe company specializing in galoshes. Soon after, they started making sneakers out of rubber and named them "All Stars." In 1920, they renamed their canvas basketball sneaker the "First Star." The name stuck, but the company's intention was not to make sneakers for basketball players. You, however, made them into something more and started wearing them to do whatever you wanted. You customized them with pen, pins and paint. You made them your own. You did everything to them, and in them. You unleashed their potential.
Converse began in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts as a rubber shoe company specializing in galoshes. Soon after, we started using our rubber to make sneakers. In 1920, we renamed our canvas basketball sneaker the all star. The name stuck. What didn't stick was their intention. We made them to sink jump shots on the court. You, however, made them into something more and started wearing our sneakers to do whatever you wanted. You played music, made art, skated the streets and kicked back. You customized them with pen, pins and paint. You made them your own. You did everything to them, and in them. You unleashed our sneakers' potential.
