Xiaomi has announced its latest Redmi device, the A1, which will be launching in South Africa in November, along with the price point for the new smartphone entry.

The Redmi A1 features a 6.52-inch HD+Dot Drop Display, 32GB Storage with 2GB RAM, a MediaTek Heilo A22 Quad-Core Processor, 8MP dual camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery (which can last up to two days depending on usage) with fast charging capabilities.

Design-wise, the Redmi A1 includes a leather-like texture on the back casing, an 88.89% Screen-to-Body ratio, and a dedicated SD card slot within the dual-SIM tray.

The one notable feature is it missing is a fingerprint sensor, which appears on the Redmi A1+; however the Redmi A1 is aimed at a more entry-level, casual market, and could be a solid device for someone looking for a simple Android solution.

The Xiaomi Redmi A1 will retail for R1,999 and will be available in November 2022 in the light blue and black colourways.
