Description
Firewire is a high-speed interface used for transferring data between computers and consumer devices. The 9-Pin to 6-Pin Firewire cable features the 9-pin Firewire 800Mb/s which is for newer devices, but it is limited by the 6-pin Firewire rate of 400Mb/s. Firewire provides two types of data transfer: Asynchronous and Isochronous. Asynchronous is for traditional load-and-store applications where data transfer can be initiated and an application interrupted as a given amount of data arrives in a buffer. Isochronous data transfer ensures that data flows at a pre-set rate so that an application can handle it in a timed way so you can chain devices together in a number of different ways without terminators or complicated set-up requirements.
