The genus has a wide distribution, native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia.Dalbergia martini commonly known as Zambezi flat-bean grows into a shrub, climber or small tree of 2 to 3 meters. It has dark chocolate-brown bark.
