There is a mountain which represents the nature, the history, and art, its name comes from the prehispanic culture Itzepetl (called in Nahuatl language itzetl which means Obsidian and tepetl mountain).   This is the biggest golden sheen Obsidian mine in the world, with its 3,212 meters of altitude it is a living monument of the Mexican history. It was used primarily by the Mexican Indians to achieve objects for ritual, war and representations of gods. Its black color contains unbelievable golden sheen reflections which appear with the sun light. In this place at the top of the mountain, there is a fully protected nature area with many archaeological sites. Its there where the Prehispanic Obsidian was mined and carved.  Artisan miners and their families manually work the mines of Obsidian, cultivating a respect for this place and its surrounding environment. Each family of artisans digs its own mine in this sacred place. The work of the mine is rudimentary, it is done by shovels, pickaxes and wheelbarrows. The artisans follow the seam that leads into the depths of the earth...
