Description
Money Skills The Board Game is a fun way to learn what role investments, property, shares and business play to earn a sustainable income so that you do not have money problems, now or when you retire.Financial literacy is improved and the importance of debt control is highlighted. Together with a culture of life-long learning, regular players can look forward to increased performance in every aspect of life.
  • PLAYERS: 2-6 players
  • TIME: 2-4 hours or Play it in sessions!
  • AGE 14-120 years (Kids from as young as 8 years can play with some initial guidance.)
The game in a nutshell The starting point of the game reflects a typical life with typical life style parameters. Players develop their income and life style by participating in activities that create the possibility of either active or residual incomes and by overcoming various challenges that will face them as they go through life.
The aim of the game is to use opportunities to earn as much residual income as possible from diversified income sources, i.e. property, business, franchise and investments. The currency used in the game is a universal currency called Frouie represented by the symbol ¿. The Bank of Frouie keeps the savings of players and grants loans to players according to the rules.
All players receive a personal statement, which they will need to continually update throughout the game. Everyone starts out with the same liabilities, monthly expenses and salary. The squares on the board represent various activities and opportunities within the game. The colours of the squares relate to the colours of the cards - Thats Life!, Opportunity Knocks Once, Opportunity Knocks Twice and Oh No, Not Again.
Apart from the above players can earn a bonus, have an open hand for charity, welcome the arrival of a new baby and experience an unfortunate car break-down or illness that keeps them out of the game for a while. The way in which the share price is determined is kept as a surprise, as well as why players need to have their dreams in writing.
Why a money game?In the 21st century people are discovering that the traditional JOB (Just Over Broke or Journey Of the Broke) is a treadmill that demands more hours and commitment and that the real rewards are not necessarily commensurate with the effort demanded of them. The world has changed dramatically and the old adage Get a good education, then a good job, save and retire is no longer viable for the large majority of people. Inflation, taxation, cost-of-living, lifestyle changes, personal aspirations, the availability of multiple sources of credit, etc., have dramatically and permanently changed peoples lives. BONUS one:PDF of the Personal Statement sheet that is used, so that you never run out! At no extra charge! BONUS two:A Money Skills Events- Facilitator notes manual (PDF) available too, no extra charge, if you'd like to run events in your community to all learn together!  It covers how to organise and host events, presentation tips, wealth creation content, references for further learning, and an evaluation template form
