Vocals come across as sounding natural and open and the sense of stereo perspective is also good with a wide sweet spot, which is particularly welcome if there is more than one person trying to listen to the mix at the same time. Theres perhaps less front-to-back perspective than with the best speakers but the bottom line is that both models are surprisingly affordable yet capable of delivering a balanced sound that you can work with for long periods and where their necessary design compromises wont stand in the way of you producing a good mix.

Yes I have raved quite a lot here, so let me say it again plainly: Im not being sponsored by Tannoy, and I dont get any goodies from them. In my opinion, the Tannoy Reveal 502s are simply the best entry-level studio monitors currently available in the 5 inch price range. Sonically, the Reveal 502 is so open and detailed, and for a 5-incher, it goes really deep, with top-notch definition. So if you want to buy entry-level studio monitors for less than 150 apiece, get the Tannoy Reveal 502. I can wholeheartedly recommend them.

At the end of the day, these monitors are ideal for anyone looking for a pair of high-quality speakers without breaking the bank. At just 159 each, it is tough finding a competitor in this class.

There are a lot of monitors in the low end monitor range to look through. Lots of features to weigh. It still boils down to what they sound like. After a lot of research and a lot of time in Guitar Center listening rooms comparing sounds I came to these speakers. They just sounded best to me and fit my requirements and price range. (...)
