This coin commemorates the inaugural Formula 1 (F1) Singtel Singapore Grand Prix held in Singapore from 26 to 28 September 2008. The Singapore event was the first night race in F1 history and the first street race in Asia. The design captures the spectacular mood of dazzling lights and vibrancy of the night race and landmarks in the Marina area that forms part of the street circuit. Also featured on the coin are the two most recognisable icons in auto racing, namely, a F1 car at full throttle and the winning chequered flag.
