The 2012 Australian Year of the Dragon 1 oz Silver Rectangle 4 Coin Set is produced by the Perth Mint. Each rectangle shaped coin was struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 silver and features a colorized dragon on the reverse. Minted by the Perth Mint as legal tender for the Cook Islands, this release is limited to a mintage of only 3,000 numbered sets. Each set includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The coins come enclosed in a black-bordered clear display case, showcasing both sides of the coin. This set was issued in honor of the Chinese Lunar Calendar year of the Dragon, and the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac. The Dragon in the Chinese Zodiac is powerful, confident, and passionate. People born in years: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012 are influenced by the Dragon. The obverse carries the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's royal portrait is encircled by the legend, ELIZABETH II COOK ISLANDS 2012 1 DOLLAR.
