From his home in Africa, close to the creatures of nature that grace his art, he can trace his creative roots to Florence, Italy, where his Great Grandfather was a sculptor. Recognizing his artistic gift from a young age, Fuz has been painting for more than half of his life. Fuz has devoted the last two decades of his career to the study of large cats, refining technique and style to capture these magnificent felines on canvas.  Fuz Caforio has been involved with De Wildt since 1993 and has been a wonderful and loyal supporter and friend. His art, more than any other artist I know, captures the spirit of the animals he paints. His cheetah works speak of the trust, vulnerability and beauty of this charismatic cat. Fuz paints what I feel in my heart love and admiration for the animal. Ann van Dyk, Founder: De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Trust  The exquisite detail and life-like quality of his art comes from painstaking research. Much time is spent in the wild bush and at breeding research stations collecting all the necessary reference material before he goes into the studio to paint.  Fuz Caforio's style can be described as painterly realism; the medium being acrylic on canvas. His early design career was highlighted by his emergence as a consummate illustrator and this is when the desire to paint was born. He trained for three years as under-study to the late Proffessore Pagi, who taught him the finer skills of painterly application. He has refined his skill and technique over the years to a point where fur patterns and textures are vividly and authentically reproduced. Fuz's paintings have become highly sought after.  In 1995, Fuz was honoured to present his painting of an African Wild Dog to HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on board the Royal Yacht Britannia.
