Description
AOSEPT Solution SCHEDULING STATUS: Schedule 0 PROPRIETARY NAME (and dosage form): AOSEPT Solution COMPOSITION: 1 mL AOSEPTsolution contains: hydrogen peroxide, 30 mg PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION A/34/Others (Contact lens disinfecting solution) DESCRIPTION The AOSEPT system consists of the AOSEPT solution and the AOSEPT cup and lens holder with the AODISC neutraliser catalyst. The platinum-coated AODISC is permanently pre-fitted by the manufacturer onto the stem of the replaceable vented AOSEPT cup. The cup and the disc are designed to be thrown away when a new bottle of AOSEPTsolution is opened. NOTE: AOSEPT solution contains no preservatives to which some people are sensitive. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION The AOSEPT system is a preservative free one-step hydrogen peroxide solution for all clear soft and hard contact lenses. Disinfection and neutralisation takes place in one single step. The component hydrogen peroxide disinfects the lenses. During the care procedure the platinum-coated AODISC decomposes the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen and the AOSEPT solution is neutralised into a sterile, non-preserved saline solution. INDICATIONS For the disinfection, neutralisation and storing of all clear contact lenses. CONTRA-INDICATIONS Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. WARNINGS DO NOT PUT AOSEPT SOLUTION THAT HAS NOT BEEN NEUTRALISED IN THE EYE. Neutralisation of AOSEPT occurs by soaking the lenses for 6 hours in the AOSEPT cup with the AODISC neutraliser. DO NOT USE THE AOSEPT SOLUTION WITH ANY CONTACT LENS CASE OTHER THAN THE AOSEPT CUP & DISC SUPPLIED WITH THE AOSEPT SYSTEM. Should AOSEPT solution that has not been neutralised mistakenly get in your eye, REMOVE YOUR LENS IMMEDIATELY, FLUSH YOUR EYE WITH A LARGE AMOUNT OF STERILE WATER OR STERILE SALINE for a few minutes. If burning and/or irritation persist, seek assistance from an eye care professional. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Disinfect/neutralise your contact lenses each time you remove them. Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling your lenses, and use a clean, dry, lint-free towel for drying. 1. Place the right lens in the compartment of the AOSEPT lens holder marked ?R'and the left lens in the compartment marked ?L'. NOTE: To prevent damage to the lens, center the lens on the dome in the lend holder. Be sure the lens does not touch the basket rim, then close the basket lid. IMPORTANT: Both lenses must be placed in their compartments before the AOSEPT cup is filled with AOSEPT solution. 2. Fill the AOSEPT cup with AOSEPT solution to the fill-line. Do not overfill. Immediately place the lens holder in the cup. Tighten the cap. Do not shake. 3. Keep the AOSEPT cup in an upright position and allow lenses to soak for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight. After a minimum of 6 hours your lenses are disinfected and neutralised. 4. Rinse each lens thoroughly with a sterile saline prior to lens insertion into the eye. 5. Discard the used solution. If your lenses remain in the AOSEPT solution for more than 24 hours, the above procedure should be repeated before wearing your lenses. ADVERSE REACTIONS The following problems may occur: eyes sting, burn or itch (irritation), comfort is less than when lens was first placed in the eye, feeling of something in the eye (foreign body, scratched area), excessive tearing unusual eye secretions, redness of the eyes, reduced sharpness of vision (poor visual acuity), blurred vision rainbows or halos around objects, sensitivity to light (photophobia), or dry eyes. If you notice any of the above: IMMEDIATELY REMOVE YOUR LENSES - If the problem stops and the lenses appear to be undamaged, thoroughly clean/rinse and disinfect/neutralise the lenses and reinsert them. - If the lens is in any way damaged, DO NOT put the lens back into the eye. Place the lens in the storage case and contact your eye care practitioner. - If the lens has dirt or a foreign body on it, thoroughly clean/rinse and disinfect/neutralise the lens, then reinsert it. - If the problem continues, IMMEDIATELY remove the lens and consult your eye care practitioner.
