Description
Triple bill of romantic comedies starring Hugh Grant. In 'Two Weeks Notice' (2002) high-flying attorney Lucy Kelton (Sandra Bullock) is driven to distraction by her boss, George Wade (Grant), who just cannot seem to make a decision (day or night) without her input. In a fit of pique she hands in her notice, two weeks, which Wade agrees to on one condition; she must find her replacement. After much searching, Lucy finds her replacement in June Carter (Alicia Witt), a Harvard law graduate who is not only very pretty and capable but also appears to be determined to become Mrs Wade. Lucy wonders whether she should warn her ex-boss and also begins to realise why she feels so jealous. In 'Music and Lyrics' (2007) Alex Fletcher (Grant), a popular musician in the 1980s, is these days lucky to get a gig playing at the local county fair. Just when it seems as if things couldn't get any bleaker for Alex, reigning pop diva Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) offers him the opportunity to write and record a duet with her and give his career a much-needed boost. Little does Cora realise that not only has it been years since Alex has written a song, but he's never actually written a single lyric. Now, if he hopes to make the comeback needed to save him from a life of complete and utter obscurity, Alex will have to craft a radio-friendly hit in a matter of mere days. Luckily for Alex, his quirky plant-keeper Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore) has quite a way with words and may possess just the kind of songwriting talent needed to make such a hit happen. In 'Mickey Blue Eyes' (1999) Grant plays Michael Felgate, an Englishman working at an upmarket auction house in New York. He falls in love with Gina Vitale (Jeanne Tripplehorn), a schoolteacher from Queens, and proposes to her. However, Gina refuses to get married as she fears that Michael will be corrupted by her gangster father Frank (James Caan). Michael is determined to change Gina's mind, sets out to meet Frank and is soon charmed by the mobster. It is only a matter of time before the hapless Brit is passing himself off as deadly assassin 'Mickey Blue Eyes'.
