Kamasi Washington is a jazz saxophonist and composer from Los Angeles. He has released two albums, The Epic and The Epic 2. The band members are all from Los Angeles, mostly South Central, and they have been congregating since they were barely teenagers in a backyard shack in Inglewood. The story The Epic tells, without words but rather through the music, is about the struggles of the African American community in Los Angeles.
