Coffee has been grown in Columbia for over three hundred years since Jesuit priests introduced the Arabica bean to the South American continent. The climate and the geography are eminently suitable for growing and harvesting and many small farmers rely on the crop as their sole source of income. The democratically elected Colombian Coffee Grower's Federation represents, believe it or not, the interests of some 560 000 growers of coffee and aims always to improve the coffee grower's profitability, and thus guarantee a sustainable coffee industry.
Preservation of the environment is a key element of sustainability and Sprada Bern decaffeinated coffee is made using a 100% natural process. The same carbon dioxide that we breathe every day is also a solvent and gently separates the caffeine from the beans leaving the aroma and taste and unique cell structure unchanged.
