CAPTURE H-ALPHA WAVELENGTH NEBULAE
Built specifically to meet the needs of astrophotography, the D810A is equipped with an FX-format CMOS image sensor without an optical low-pass filter. It also comes with an optical filter (IR cut filter) with reassessed transmission characteristics in which the transmission of H-alpha spectral line has been increased by approximately four times from a typical DSLR, reproducing vivid reds of nebulae and constellations. This allows you to take remarkably detailed images of nebulae and other celestial objects in rich vibrant colours with a high signal-to-noise ratio that are true to the eye.

Built specifically for astrophotography, the D810A delivers stunningly-sharp images that are rich in detail and vibrant colours, bringing your vision to life. The collective power of a 36.3-megapixel FX-format CMOS image sensor and EXPEED 4 image-processing engine maintains a rich tonality and high resolution. Its wide ISO range of 200 to 12800 (expandable from 100 to 51200) captures incomparable images of the nebulae, efficiently minimising noise even at high sensitivities for a wide variety of shooting environments.
SPACE-AGE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
The D810A is optimised with astrophotography functions that require minimal configuration. Primed to capture sensational sights of the Milky Way or a meteor shower, the long exposure M mode (M*) allows for a shutter speed of up to 900 seconds to catch as much light as possible. When the shutter speed is set at 30 seconds or longer*2, the live view preview function displays a brighter, clearer preview image. Take a closer look at the stars with the ability to enlarge live view images up to approximately 23 times to help you better compose and focus your shots.
CAPABILITIES THAT REACH FOR THE STARS
The D810A features the most outstanding resolving power amongst the Nikon DSLR cameras ensuring that every miniscule detail of deep space is captured with crystal clarity. The electronic front-curtain shutter feature available under the Mirror-up shooting function reduces vibration of internal mechanics and mirror movement, retaining pixel-precise sharpness in long exposure shots. The limit for continuous shooting in CH or CL release mode with a shutter speed of 4 seconds or slower has also been infinitely extended. This allows you to fully capture beautiful star and light trails for as long as your memory card capacity and battery permit.
