Description
Cambridge Audio Minx C46 Experience extraordinary levels of refinement from virtually invisible speakers
Never before will you have heard such accuracy, detail and realism from a speaker that you will struggle to even find within your room. This wide dispersion in-ceiling speaker offers superb integration in any home, its tiny 80mm diameter sitting less than 3mm proud when mounted into your ceiling. They are quick and easy to install and the grilles can be painted to blend in harmoniously.
Created at Cambridge Audios Research and Development Centre in the heart of London by a team fuelled with a passion for incredible sound, the Minx C46 speakers completely rewrite the rulebook of whats possible from miniature speakers… As a virtually invisible surround speaker solution as part of a Minx 5.1 system, installed around your home to bring music discreetly to every room or used in arrays in a commercial environment to provide an even spread of sound, the C46 is incredibly versatile.
Fully tested to IP65, which ensures that no dust or water can pass and fitted with an intumescent gasket that swells under exposure to heat to block smoke, C46 is fit for a wide variety of environments.
With BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology, this design performs superbly and covers an exceptionally large sound footprint, meaning that compared to conventional speakers you need to install less of them to get the same even sound level over a wide area.
BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology features in each Minx satellite speaker
Cambridge Audio BMR drivers utilise patented bending wave principles normally seen in advanced flat panel speakers combined with pistonic movement (backwards and forwards) like in a traditional speaker design. This bestows Minx with a much wider frequency response than comparable style speakers for much deeper and more powerful bass frequencies plus incredibly spacious sound. Quite naturally you want your speakers to fit into your home rather than designing your living space around your system, and once again Cambridge Audios BMR adds value by delivering a much broader sound dispersion across the entire room, avoiding the typical sweet spot pitfall of other style speakers, for the most enveloping sound imaginable.
How does BMR speaker technology work?
Pistonic speaker driver - A normal speaker works like a piston - back and forth. Sure has the ability to sound great, but requires separate woofer / tweeter to cover mid-bass / high frequencies properly. (Not ideal when space is limited.)
Flat panel speakers - A flat panel driver design uses vibrational modes to create sound across a smaller surface area but this design suffers from limited frequency range. It simply can't deliver the bass notes you need for true musical pleasure.
BMR speaker technology - The patented BMRTM driver technology we use in Minx Air combines pistonic action (to enable lower frequency response than flat panel) and vibrational modes in one drive unit. Benefits of BMR include wide frequency response from one driver, slimline design (ideal for applications where space is limited) and wider dispersion than regular pistonic drivers.
