Terre d'Hermès – meaning 'Earth of Hermès' – was launched in March 2006. Perfumer, Jean-Claude Ellena was inspired by the creation of the fragrance by the works of the author, Jean Giono.

Hermès says: Terre d’Hermès is a metaphor for materials, a matrix that speaks of territory as well as matter, earth, and roots.
