Description
The story follows the residents of a small town in England in the 1930s. Bradley Hardacre, a coal miner, and his wife, Elsie, own most of the businesses and properties in the town. The Fairchilds, a family of modest means, live on the bottom of a hill and are overlooked by Hardacre's property. The children of both families start to discover each other and the stage is set for class war.
