Bains is distilled in column stills and uniquely double matured. The whisky is matured in first-fill American Oak casks previously used for the maturation of bourbon, first for three years before being revatted into a fresh set of casks for a further 18 to 30 months.<br /> Produced at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, Western Cape, this excellent value-for-money, award-winning single grain has helped put SA whisky on the map and is playing a role in the gaining popularity of grain whisky. Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for 3 years, and then filled into another set of first-fill ex-bourbon casks for a few more years for an additional dose of flavour.<br /> Some tasting notes from the experts.<br /> Nose:Combination of toffee, floral and vanilla.<br /> Palate:A hint of cardamom spice softened by the sweet undertones of oak.
