The 39 Steps is a British thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and based on the novel of the same name by John Buchan. The film stars Robert Donat, Madeleine Carroll, and Peter Lorre. The story follows Richard Hannay, a British intelligence agent who is mistaken for a spy and is pursued by the police.
