Description
Housewife 49 is a television drama based on the real diary of a Lancashire housewife. Nella (Victoria Wood) is struggling to recover from a nervous breakdown, a difficult marriage, and the realisation that her two sons are now grown up and no longer need her. She joins the local Women's Voluntary Service, run by Mrs Waite (Stephanie Cole) and Mrs Lord (Marcia Warren), and the companionship and sense of purpose she finds there gives her the joy and strength she needs to get back on her feet.
