Description
Stone Town brims with a magical jumble of life, with flavours sailing out from the cobbled alleyways to the archipelago’s coastline –home to some of Africa’s finest coral beaches. Inspired by the pastel pink coral that rings the coastal reef of this historical town, our quest for the most aromatic grape varieties has transported us to the Cape coast, where vines enjoy the cool Atlantic breeze to produce fresh, fruit forward cultivars such as Grenache -a variety that lends itself beautifully to this crisp and refreshing style of rosé. Packed with raspberry and red berry aromas, it can be enjoyed now or over the next two years.

IN THE VINEYARD
Our Grenache Noir is grown on the misty, rolling hills outside Darling, on the Cape west coast. These vineyards overlook the cold Atlantic Ocean, and are planted on some of the country’s finest red oak leaf soil. The deep, iron-rich granite in the earth offers sufficient natural water to the deep-rooted vines without artificial irrigation.

HARVEST DATE
Mid to Late Feb 2018

WINEMAKING
The grapes were hand harvested before sunrise, ensuring the grapes arrived at the cellar chilled.Bunches were destalked and pumped straight into the press. The skins were gently pressed at 0.8bar of pressure to extract the light pink colour of this wine, prior to fermentation. The juice was then fermented at a cool temperature for two weeks, in order to preserve the natural fruit flavours. No malolactic fermentation was allowed and the wine was left on its lees for 7 weeks before bottling
