This product is a post fastener kit that includes 4JS brackets and screws to install a 3 1/2" newel post. The kit was designed by 4JS and has been sold nationally for the past 22 years. The product has been field proven by professionals and amateurs alike and is a higher quality, far better engineered product than other in this market. The kit is available in over 10 wood types, 2 molding styles and sizes to fit every newel post currently made. Installation is as simple as: 1) Positioning the 4JS brackets flush with the bottom of the post. Mark & drill the holes for the small screws on all 4 sides of post. Use the small screws to attach the 4JS brackets to the post. 2) Set post in desired location and mark & drill holes for large screws. Use large screws to attach 4JS brackets and post to floor.

In this time, the product has been field proven by professionals and amateurs alike. Both have commented on the ease-of-use and strength. Recently the 4Js System was re-engineered to provide an even stronger installation. Although there are other post hardware kits on the market (several of which try to imitate our product), none has been as widely accepted as the 4Js System. This is a higher quality, far better engineered product than other in this market. From the zinc-coated hardware to the premium grade wood used in the moldings (accurate to within .01"), it's a complete system. Installation is as simple as: 1) Positioning the 4Js brackets flush with the bottom of the post. Mark & drill the holes for the small screws on all 4 sides of post. Use the small screws to attach the 4Js brackets to the post. 2) Set post in desired location and mark & drill holes for large screws. Use large screws to attach 4Js brackets and post to floor. (Pro Tip: Because of the extreme downward force of the 4Js system, you can actually use them to move the plumb of the post by tightening one side more than the others. Shims (business cards work well) can also be used under the post if the floor is too far out of level.) 3) Apply glue to the corner faces of the moldings, place around post and then use masking or painters tape to hold the moldings until they dry. Use a slight stretching motion to pull the tape around the corner. This will result in a tight joint with no holes to fill.
