Aluminium construction
The 3-section 290 tripod is constructed around aluminium leg tubes and an aluminium top casting for rigidity, durability and performance.
Tension adjustable leg locking levers

The Manfrotto 290's centre column can be flipped 90 from vertical to horizontal orientation. The 90 column mechanism is hidden inside the tripods top casting until its needed; the mechanism can then be raised, allowing the centre column to swing to the horizontal position. Together, the 90column and the 4 leg angles enable you to get low down to the ground like no other tripod.
