The repertoire by which Dorati is most well known, this recording of the 'Slavonic Dances' is regarded as second to none. Inspired by the 'Hungarian Dances' of Brahms, the then-little-known composer Dvorak used the characteristics of Slavic folk music to write eight lively and nationalistic works that became among his best known and most popular, launching his career. The second suite would follow the success of the first eight years later.
