Shurtape CP-743 Matte Black Paper Tape, also known as Permacel P-743, is a photographer's matte black masking tape with an opaque, matte surface. It has high quick stick and adhesion for reproducing photographs and is commonly used for cropping and edging negatives, positioning negatives for contact printing, redacting legal documents, and sealing camera bellows and film holders against light leaks. This reliable tape is recommended for use in photo studios, film processing laboratories, and home dark-rooms. It can also be used as a chart tape or framer tape for hinging prints onto matboard. The tape has an easy, consistent unwind and can be hand torn. Unlike gaffers tape, it has a clear adhesive, making it invisible from the side. It is now manufactured by Shurtape, but was previously known as Permacel P-743. The tape is available in various widths, with sizes typically being slightly narrower than the nominal size. The actual size of this product is 12mm x 55m.

Also because CP 743 features a clear adhesive no white will be visible when looking at the tape from the side unlike a gaffers tape which has white adhesive which can sometimes be partially visible when looking at the tape from that angle.
