PriceCheck Mobile App wins International BlackBerry App of the Year!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>South African app wins International BlackBerry App of the Year<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>PriceCheck claims international award<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[16 May 2013, Orlando, Florida] PriceCheck has been awarded International App of the Year at BlackBerry Live, the annual international partner conference, in Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackberrylive.com\/special-programs\/achievement-awards\/2013-winners\" target=\"_blank\">BlackBerry Achievement Awards shortlist<\/a> was selected by BlackBerry from 100 000 <a href=\"http:\/\/appworld.blackberry.com\/webstore\/content\/21869885\/\" target=\"_blank\">BlackBerry 10<\/a> applications worldwide and the final winners in all categories were selected through a process of public voting.<\/p>\n<p>Andre de Wet, GM of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=C0cGfLAqZN8#action=share\" target=\"_blank\">PriceCheck<\/a> says, \u201cWhat is most gratifying is that users chose an app that makes a difference to their lives. Not a social or chat app, but one that helps them make better buying decisions. The fact that a South African app won, demonstrates what I have always believed \u2013 Africa is leading the way in terms of useful, elegant and technically sophisticated mobile application development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to realize that this didn\u2019t happen overnight,\u201d says de Wet. \u201cIt has taken nearly two years of research, development and subsequent fine-tuning. The time and dedication of my team has paid off and we are especially proud of our BB10 iteration. It takes the best of the BlackBerry handset and the PriceCheck platform and presents an intuitive, functional and incredibly useful app to the user.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PriceCheck has seen a rapid increase in the use of app. Weekend traffic in April 2013 surpassed that of the Christmas shopping period in December 2012. Its growing success as a mobile price comparison tool is based in its ability to seamlessly integrate into the shopping and buying experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMobile shopping is not mobile buying. Our app is designed to help people shop, make decisions and get the best price. We have everything from daily updated pricing on 30 million items to expert reviews on 130 000 big-ticket items like cameras and television.
