As Christmas<\/a> rolls around this year, PriceCheck<\/a> has reached deep down into our musical archives and compiled our five favourite albums for this holiday season. However, we also had to take into account some new offerings and thus included two recently released CD\u2019s for 2011!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>First up we have Mariah Carey<\/a> with the 1994 released titled \u2018Merry Christmas<\/a>\u2019. The 41 year-old mother of twins gave the music world this gem right off the heels of her multi-platinum selling \u2018Music Box<\/a>\u2019 album. This festive CD spawned what the The New Yorker<\/em> considers “one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon”.\u00a0 It is also currently the most played Christmas song in the UK. The album went on to sell over 5 million copies in the United States and prompted Carey to record a sequel called \u2018Merry Christmas II You<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Next on our list is \u2018Noel<\/a>\u2019 by pop-classic singer Josh Groban<\/a>. The album was released in 2007 and immediately shot to the summit of the Billboard 200 Albums Chart in the US<\/a>. It sold in excess of 5 million copies and was featured as one of \u2018Oprah\u2019s Favourite Things<\/a>\u2019 that year.\u00a0 The ever popular singer also recently made a trip to South Africa<\/a> for live performances this year!<\/p>\n

Number three on our list is a very recent release. It comes from the widely popular Canadian crooner Michael Buble<\/a>. \u2018Christmas<\/a>\u2019 \u2013 the name of the album \u2013 is the 5th<\/sup> studio album by the singer and was released just last month. It is Buble\u2019s second Christmas themed offering following \u2018Let It Snow<\/a>\u2019, which was a 5 song EP in 2003. Buble also does a cover version of the Mariah Carey penned classic \u2018All I Want For Christmas Is You\u2019 as well as traditional songs such as \u2018Jingle Bells\u2019 and \u2018Blue Christmas\u2019.<\/p>\n

The number four favourite album comes from none other than Justin Bieber<\/a> aka The Biebster!\"\"<\/a> The teenager, who has reached great success in the music world, has released his festive season album called \u2018Under The Mistletoe\u2019 just over a week ago. Just like Buble, the album contains a cover version of Carey\u2019s \u2018All I Want For Christmas Is You\u2019 but as a duet with Mariah herself.\u00a0 According to MTV News Bieber was extremely excited to work with Carey saying, “Mariah Carey is doing it with me! It’s incredible. So excited”.\u00a0 The album features collaborations with Usher<\/a> as well as BoyzIIMen<\/a>. The track called \u2018Mistletoe\u2019 is the first single to be released off the album.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Last but certainly not least we have our number five FAVOURITE XMAS CD \u2013 Christmas With Boney M<\/a>! You simply cannot visit a store in the mall or switch on the telly without seeing or hearing Boney M\u2019s XMAS tunes! The album was released exclusively in South Africa at first and remained an extremely popular album through the 80\u2019s! The album features the original recording of \u201cMother and Child Reunion” with Reggie Tsiboe and La Mama, making this CD a very sought- after Boney M collectors album!<\/p>\n

So there you have it, PriceCheck\u2019s FIVE FAVOURITE XMAS albums for 2011.<\/p>\n
