Samsung says that its new QLED TVs has “advanced cutting-edge technology” which “sets a high bar for competitors to follow, demonstrating innovation in picture quality, design and interactivity.”<\/p>\n

Unveiled at a global launch in Paris earlier this year, QLED is Samsung’s new flagship line of TVs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese latest QLED TVs exhibit the continuous evolution of television, not only with regard to people\u2019s entertainment, but also with aesthetics within the home. QLED TVs deliver true-to-life picture quality, smart features that facilitate access to today\u2019s limitless content, as well as beautiful design that gives users the freedom to put the TV wherever their lifestyle demands. With QLED every seat is a great seat,\u201d says Mike van Lier, Director: Consumer Electronics at Samsung South Africa.<\/p>\n

The new flagship line of QLED TVs includes three series: the Q7, Q8 and Q9, which will be available in a combination of flat and curved models.<\/p>\n

While Samsung is touting next level advancements in light efficiency, stability and a wider colour spectrum, LG says that the QLED TVs might not be as fantastic as Samsung is claiming they are. \u00a0In fact, LG goes so far as to say:<\/p>\n

“The Q in Q-L-E-D is just marketing. Facts matter, and there are none that support it being the next innovation in television. In fact, Q-L-E-D is more comparable to our best LED, LG SUPER UHD with Nano Cell\u00a0Technology. Q-L-E-D’s name was created to confuse consumers into thinking they’re buying the best product. Q-L-E-D is not the<\/div>\n
best. It may be an improvement from previous models, but it’s not a new category of television. No matter what you call it, Samsung’s Q-L-E-D is a 4K LED TV, just like SUPER UHD with Nano Cell\u00a0Technology.”<\/div>\n

Samsung says that their QLED TVs come with\u00a0innovative metal Quantum dot technology which ensures that their QLED TVs are able to showcase 100% colour volume due to the metal Quantum Dot having greater light efficiency, along with a peak brightness of HDR 1,500-2,000 nits turning light into pure colour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBy improving on all aspects of picture quality, extremely dark as well as extremely bright hues contrast with superiority and maintain colour at any viewing angle,\u201d says van Lier.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the aspects that LG points out as being superior is their Magic Remote, stating that Samsung does not have a Magic Remote, which is true, however Samsung has their One Remote Control.<\/p>\n

LG’s Magic Remote is able to control devices including your TV, set top box, blu-ray player and soundbar. It has the usual buttons and it has voice search capabilities.<\/p>\n

Samsung’s One Remote Control has more retro modern design than it’s LG counterpart and is able to control your TV, games console, set top box (including Apple TV) and more. The One Remote Control also has what Samsung calls “Auto Source Recognition” to help it decipher what type of device is plugged in to which port on your QLED TV. This means that you don’t have to try to figure out which device is plugged in where in order for you to switch over to it, the One Remote Control can do that for you. Like the Magic Remote from LG, Samsung’s One Remote Control also has a voice functionality.<\/p>\n

At the end of the day, the decision rests with you and we recommend finding a store to view both the new Samsung QLED TV and LG’s OLED and 4K Super UHD TVs.<\/p>\n
