The 15th of January 2018 will forever be remembered as the day the world lost the extraordinary yodelling singing sensation, Dolores O’Riordan. She was part of the Multi-Platinum Irish band, The Cranberries, known for their hit songs such as Linger, Zombies and Dreams.

O’Riordan was born in Ballybricken Ireland and was the youngest of seven children. She was raised Catholic and had a deep admiration for Pope John Paul II. She had this to say after meeting the head of the Catholic Church –

“[He] was lovely, very saintly. I was mad about him. I thought he really cared for the poor and he loved to meet the people. I saw him when he came to Limerick when I was a kid. So it was pretty mindblowing to take my mum out to meet him.”

She met him twice after and performed at the Vatican’s Annual Christmas concert in 2013.

Showing extraordinary strength in her vulnerability, Dolores opened up to the public about her bipolar disorder in May 2017.

Apart from the five albums released by the stellar band, Dolores also pursued a solo career. She released two solo albums – Are You Listening and No Baggage.

On Monday, 15 January 2018, Dolores Oriordan was found at Park Lane hotel and was confirmed dead by her publicist, Lindsey Holmes, “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today”.

Dolores died at the age of 46 and her exceptionally legendary voice lives on in the hearts of many.
