This series provides a wonderful opportunity for the teacher to lay the foundations for Life Skills. The 66 Specific Outcomes that are formulated for the three Learning Areas, together with the six Phase Organisers, are used in an integrated manner in the Learner's Workbooks. The life cycle of a bird calle SKUA is used as a metphor in each lesson in order to utilise the ideas of Curriculum 2005, and corresponds directly with the four basic features of outcomes-based education, namely knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes. Accompanying Teacher's Manuals offer the outcomes-based methodology and assessment guidelines.
