Overview - Waterproof Airotec:
Escape Gear Fitting Instructions for Seat Covers:
General: Wash hands and cut fingernails short. Position vehicle so that the doors can open to their maximum without hitting anything. Open all the doors and take out all loose articles. Park vehicle under cover. Remove all jewelry and/or watches. Do not fit if you have any open cuts or wounds on your hands. Discontinue fitting if you cut yourself. Caution; sliding seat mechanisms are greased; try not to get grease on your hands
Before Fitting: Take all the headrests off and place in the back. Open bag and put the pieces where they are going to go; i.e. put 4 headrest covers with the headrests, etc. Loosen all webbing from ladder locks and split all Velcro.
Fitting sequence: Fit headrest covers. Match profile of piping with profile of headrest to ensure you fit the headrest cover the correct way round. Once you have fitted the headrest covers, leave them in the back.
Passenger seat: Put backrest cover on with side pocket facing the driver. Tuck tongue of fabric through gap between backrest and seat. Join the Velcro. Fit seat cover and pull through straps around bottom of seat and tighten to ladder locks.
Driver seat: As per passenger seat
Rear bench backrest: Slide backrest cover over either side of bench. Push safety belt buckles out of the way. Push long tongue of fabric (length of the bench) underneath and between backrest and bench. Match the hook and loop of the Velcro and push together. Split and push Velcro together until the join lies flat. Tuck the armrest flaps into the armrest cavity. Split armrest cover Velcro. Pull armrest cover over armrest (like you would put a sock on your foot). Feed armrest cover flap around and through the swing-arm area of the armrest and join Velcro together.
Rear bench seat: Loosen the complete rear bench by undoing two bolts (at ankle height on the driver side and passenger side of the rear bench; use # 12 spanner). Lift the back of the bench and it will come free. Take the bench out of the vehicle. Put the rear bench seat cover over the bench and tighten the corresponding straps to ladder locks. The key is to loose-tighten all the ladder locks, adjust fabric for fit, and then only tighten fast. Put bench back into vehicle, and tighten bolts. Put back headrests.
Important:
It is easy to cut your fingers on sharp pieces of plastic or exposed metal, especially underneath seats, and/or to get them greasy. Take a touchy-feely approach when sticking your hands in areas where you cant see. When you feed a strap through a ladder lock and pull, the strap should not slip. If it does, this means you have threaded the ladder lock incorrectly. Solution is to undo it, turn the ladder lock around and re-thread. If it is still slipping, then look at the ladder locks underneath the driver or passenger seat which are sewn-in so that the strap can only be threaded correctly. Copy this threading sequence on the ladder lock which is slipping. You should never have to tie a knot always thread and tighten straps with the ladder lock. You may find it difficult to tighten some ladder locks (especially the back bench). Here you can use clean pliers but only if you are gentle. Beware that by using pliers, it is very easy to snap a ladder lock.
Timing: It will take more than one hour for a first timer to fit the complete set. The time will be more than halved if two people work together
Neat fit: This is achieved by adjusting ladder locks and Velcro to smooth out fabric that is bunching or creased.
