Tant Grietjie van Garies has just turned 80 and now resides in an
old age home in Springbok. Since Tant Grietjie's discovery by Zirk
Bergh and subsequent CD release in 2004, a lot of water has flowed
under the bridge. Through the efforts of many people, she has become a household
name and synonymous with the song 'Lekker Ou Jan'.
Pieter van der Westhuizen, is a singer/songwriter in his own
right with hits like 'Sout, Manne Sout!' and 'Bokkie Se My Reg'
teamed up with Tant Grietjie a few years ago. They have toured
extensively, performing to the delight of all that have seen them,
be it in JHB, Cape Town or at the KKNK.
The CD contains songs performed by Tant Grietjie on her own,
Pieter on his own, as well as a few duets. The CD is further
enhanced by a medley of Pieter's greatest hits and a medley of Tant
Grietjie's greatest hits.
NB - There has been a renewed call for Tant Grietjie's music
since her recent appearance on Pasella on SABC.
